At least 12 killed in building slump in Cameroon’s Douala city

A building fall in Cameroon resulted in at least 12 people and over a dozen injuries, according to officials. 


210 kilometers (130 miles) west of Yaounde, the capital, in Douala, Cameroon's largest city and commercial center, a four-story structure fell, the regional governor reported on Sunday.


Around one in the morning local time (00:00 GMT), the block gave way and collapsed onto a smaller residential structure. 


The governor of the nearby Littoral area, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, informed reporters at the scene, "Twelve died and the others are in hospital for medical attention." A total of 31 individuals were injured. "There might be more casualties. 


He continued, "Rescue teams are still excavating the debris with the help of Cameroonian government forces in an attempt to recover more bodies.
